First Oklahoma Patents
The first patent issued was in 1880 to Wallace C. Freeman, Fort Reno, Indian Territory, for the Stove Pipe, U.S. patent 228883.
Gordon J. Keeney, Kingfisher, was the first to receive a patent in Oklahoma Territory, U.S. patent 431362, Fender for Vehicle Wheels.
The first state of Oklahoma patents were 871316 in 1907, the Three or Four Horse Hitch (the first patent issued after Oklahoma statehood, according to date in Official Gazette) and 873158 in 1907 Knotter for Harvesters (the first patent that refers to the 'State of Oklahoma' within the text).
